Champions League – Sevilla vs Manchester City Betting Preview

This is a huge game for both sides but is is more significant for the home side as a defeat would make it very unlikely that they will progress in the competition after losing to City in the reverse fixture. Although Sevilla lost the match against City a fortnight ago, they will go into this game confident of a result for a couple of reasons. One, in my opinion they deserved a point from the game against City and restricted their City’s attacking threat. Two, Sevilla are much stronger at home as demonstrated by the fact they lost just one game at home in last season’s La Liga.

Manchester City’s main aim in this match will be to not lose as a draw or even a victory will put them in a great position to advance through to the knock-out stages going into the last two matches of the group stage. City are currently on a seven game unbeaten streak but a concern for them will be that they have managed to keep just one clean sheet in those matches, especially against a Sevilla side that have scored 14 goals in their last five home matches.

Kelechi Iheanacho has started alongside Wilfried Bony in the last two matches for City and has looked very promising in those matches with a goal and a couple of assists but he is unlikely to start in this match as Manuel Pellegrini will be looking to restrict Sevilla’s attacking threat in this match. Navas will likely start on the right-hand side who will be expected to help Bacary Sagna cope with Yevgen Konoplyanka who scored the first goal in the reverse fixture.

Sevilla vs Manchester City Head to Head Statistics

21/10/15 CHA Manchester City vs Manchester City 2 : 1

These two sides faced each other for the first time just a couple of weeks ago in the reverse fixture where City managed to claim all three points with an injury time winner from summer signing Kevin de Bruyne.

Therefore there isn’t much to go off in terms of determining the result in this match but Sevilla gave City a very tough match away from home and in my opinion, they didn’t deserve to lose which will give the team confidence of getting a result at home where they are a much stronger team usually.

Sevilla Recent Form

31/10/15 PRI Villarreal vs Sevilla 2 : 1
24/10/15 PRI Sevilla vs Getafe 5 : 0
21/10/15 CHA Manchester City vs Sevilla 2 : 1
17/10/15 PRI Eibar vs Sevilla 1 : 1
03/10/15 PRI Sevilla vs Barcelona 2 : 1

Sevilla are in average form overall in their last five games with two wins, two losses and a tie but both of their wins have came from their two home matches in those five games including a 2-1 victory over Barcelona which will give the whole team confidence heading into this game.

Manchester City Recent Form

31/10/15 BPL Manchester City vs Norwich 2 : 1
28/10/15 CAP Manchester City vs Crystal Palace 5 : 1
25/09/15 BPL Manchester United vs Manchester City 0 : 0
21/09/15 CHA Manchester City vs Sevilla 2 : 1
17/10/15 BPL Manchester City vs Bournemouth 5 : 1

Manchester City are heading into this game in fantastic form after winning four of their last five with the remaining match ending in draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford which is by no means a poo result. Their worry going into this match will be that defensively they have not been strong enough in recent games although they were unfortunate to concede on the weekend.

Sevilla Team News:

Sevilla played Kevin Gameiro’s against City a fortnight ago but since has suffered an injury which should Ciro Immobile or Fernando Llorente step into attack. Sevilla also have an injury worry with playmaker Ever Banega who is recovering from an ankle injury and they will be hoping to get him involved in this crucial game.

Manchester City Team News:

Wilfried Bony has been involved in five goals in the five matches since Aguero has been out and he will be looking to add to that here after missing a few good chances against Norwich on the weekend. Raheem Sterling was benched on the weekend but he is expected to return to the starting XI for this match.

Sevilla vs Manchester City Average Goals Per Game Statistics

As there has been just one meeting between these two sides it is difficult to draw a conclusion from such a small sample size but we can take a look at both sides recent fixtures. As for Sevilla, their last five matches have seen a total of 16 goals meaning that there has been an average goals per game of 3.2.

And in Manchester City’s last five matches, there has been 18 goals scored with City scoring 14 of those which means that there has been an average goals per game of 3.6.

Both sets of data suggest that based on recent matches, these sides should produce an entertaining game on Tuesday night which will see at least three goals scored.

Sevilla vs Manchester City Current Betting Odds Market

Sevilla are the behind the market in this one with the online bookmakers and you can obtain a best price of 9/5 with BetVictor – £50 Free Bets for New Customers.

The Draw does look a possibility in this match and I would be tempted to have a bet on it possibly as a cover with best available odds of 13/5 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Manchester City are currently the slight favourites to win this match but I would not bet in them as this should be a well contested match and could swing either way. The best price is 7/5 with Coral – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers.

Sevilla vs Manchester City Free Sports Bets, Tips & Predictions

I think this will be a tight game as both sides will be right up for it but we should also see goals in this match. Sevilla have kept just one clean sheet in nine matches but they have also scored in every home match in 2015 except from two matches against Atletico Madrid. And as for Manchester City if you take the 0-0 against Manchester United out of the equation, both teams have scored in Manchester City’s last 10 matches which is ridiculous and highlights the problems they have defensively. And that is why my banker in this match is for both teams to score again.

And for my saver, I have gone with Sevilla’s scorer in the reverse fixture Yevgen Konoplyanka to score at anytime in the match. He has scored Sevilla’s only goals(two) not from the penalty spot so far in the Champions League and with Kevin Gamiero out for this match, he will be expected to step up once again and deliver.
