Europa League – Bordeaux vs Liverpool Betting Preview

Bordeaux have had an average start to their season picking up just six points in five matches in the league but they have faced tough opponents so far and after getting a point away to PSG on the weekend, they know that they have a great chance to take all three points against a struggling Liverpool side at the moment. Bordeaux have been very solid at home in recent years demonstrated by the fact that they lost just two matches at home all last season and they will be looking for at least a point in this match against the team they will be most likely contending for top spot against.

Liverpool may have got off to a good start in the premiership with two 1-0 victories over Stoke and Bournemouth but the signs were there that they would struggle as going forward, they did not look dangerous and that has been shown in the last three matches.

They have scored just one goal in the last three with that goal coming from a superb Benteke overhead-kick but they cannot be expecting that every game. In my opinion, Liverpool are lacking pace going forward with Benteke leading the line and a lack of wingers with just Ibe being the only natural winger they have. Sturridge could be exactly what Liverpool need at the moment but I’m not sure he will feature in this match as they will not want to rush him back from injury.

Liverpool have also been poor in defence in the last couple of matches conceding three goals in each and they will need to correct this if they want to have a chance in this competition. Liverpool’s side may been changed up in this match and that may see Sakho and Toure come into the centre of defence for this match.

Bordeaux vs Liverpool Head to Head Statistics

31/10/06 CHA Liverpool vs Bordeaux 3 : 0
18/10/06 CHA Bordeaux vs Liverpool 0 : 1

The only times these two teams have met in their history was in the 2006/07 Champions League group stage in which Liverpool came out clear winners after winning both matches against Bordeaux to nil including a 3-0 thrashing at Anfield. In the match that was hosted by Bordeaux, Liverpool won narrowly in a 1-0 victory.

If we use these head to head statistics alone to predict the outcome of the match on Thursday evening, it would suggest that Liverpool will be the ones celebrating come the full time whistle.

Bordeaux Recent Form

11/09/15 LIG Paris Saint-Germain vs Bordeaux 2 : 2
30/08/15 LIG Bordeaux vs Nantes 2 : 0
27/08/15 EUR K. Almaty vs Bordeaux 2 : 1
23/08/15 LIG Lille vs Bordeaux 0 : 0
20/08/15 EUR Bordeaux vs K. Almaty 1 : 0

Bordeaux’s form does not look promising at first glance with just two wins in their last five but their two draws have came against Paris Saint-Germain and Lille. Paris Saint-Germain went the whole of last season without losing at home in the league and Lille managed to lose just three of their 19 home fixtures last season. And Bordeaux’s loss to K.Almaty may have been disappointing but they still got the job done and that is why they are in this match.

Liverpool Recent Form

12/09/15 BPL Manchester United vs Liverpool 3 : 1
29/08/15 BPL Liverpool vs West Ham 0 : 3
24/08/15 BPL Arsenal vs Liverpool 0 : 0
17/08/15 BPL Liverpool vs Bournemouth 1 : 0
09/08/15 BPL Stoke vs Liverpool 0 : 1

Liverpool’s form has dropped off significantly in their last couple of matches with a hugely disappointing 3-0 defeat to West Ham at home and then they followed it up by being beaten by fierce rivals Manchester United in a 3-1 loss. Prior to those two matches, Liverpool’s defence looked solid after keeping three clean sheets in a row but now it is looking as shaky as it did last season and that will be worrying for Brendan Rogers.

Bordeaux Team News:

Bordeaux have been hit heavily by injuries at the start of this season with Sane, Sertic, Diabate, Plasil and Toure all being ruled out for the match on Thursday evening. But Bordeaux will be happy to see Diego Rolan return from injury and he could make his first start of the season in this game.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool will be glad to see Coutinho, Sturridge and Lallana return for this match but they may not start as Liverpool play on Sunday and Rodgers is expected to make a few changes for this fixture. Liverpool’s only injury worry at the moment lies with Joe Allen as he remains sidelined.

Bordeaux vs Liverpool Average Goals Per Game Statistics

In the two matches that have taken place between these two sides, there has been just four goals meaning that there has been an average goals per game of exactly 2.

And in the single match where Bordeaux were the home team, there was just one goal clearly showing that there has been an average goals per game of just 1 when Bordeaux have hosted the meeting.

Both sets of data suggest that we are in for a low-scoring game here with just one or two goals being scored.

Bordeaux vs Liverpool Current Betting Odds Market

Bordeaux look great value to win this game with the online bookmakers and you can obtain a best price of 2/1 with BetVictor – £50 Free Bets for New Customers, for Spurs to be the one’s celebrating come the full time whistle.

The Draw does look a possibility in this match and I would be tempted to have a bet on it possibly as a cover with best available odds of 9/4 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers.

Liverpool are slight favourites heading into this game but I would stay clear of them as I cannot see them coming out victorious in this match. The best price is 6/4 with Coral – Deposit £5 & Receive £20 Free Bets for New Customers.

Bordeaux vs Liverpool Free Sports Bets, Tips & Predictions

I am predicting that Bordeaux will be the better team in this match but I am not sure they will beat Liverpool but I cannot see them losing. Bordeaux have just got a point against PSG away from home which will give them a confidence boost going into this game whilst Liverpool have been well beaten in their last two matches and they may have a lot of changes to the team going into this match. This is why my Banker is Draw No Bet – Bordeaux which means if Bordeaux win the match the bet wins, and if the match ends in a draw the bet is void and the stake is refunded.

Khazri has already got three goals in the league after five matches and he also got one of Bordeaux’s two goals in the two legs against K.Almaty to get to the group stage. I can see Bordeaux getting two or three goals in this match as Liverpool’s defence will be unsettled with expected changes to the defence and as such, that gives Khazri a good chance of grabbing a goal.

My banker will be Bordeaux Draw No Bet as I do expect the hosts to add more misery to Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers and if by some miracle Liverpool do play well, the best result I can see them obtaining is a draw and this will see our stake refunded.

My saver bet is for Khazri to score anytime as he really has been on fire at the start of the new season and I fully expect him to get on the score-sheet at some time during the game, but if you want bigger odds, you can get him to score first at 9/1 with Bet365 which also looks excellent value for a player in a rich vein of scoring form at the moment.
