Premiership – QPR vs Stoke City Betting Preview

Queens Park Rangers have found life back in the Premiership extremely difficult indeed, an opening day defeat at home against Hull City was followed by a 4-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur and then came the embarrasing defeat away against Burton Albion which saw them eliminated from the League Cup.

Manager Harry Redknapp did seem to rally his players for their next game in which they recorded their first win of the season by beating Sunderland 1-0 at home, but the celebrations didn’t last long as they were trounced 4-0 away against Manchester United last time out and the pressure will certainly be on Harry Redknapp and his staff for this game.

Stoke City also lost their opening game of the new season, going down 1-0 at home against Aston Villa, they did manage to secure a point in their following game when holding Hull City to a 1-1 draw away from home and their first win of the new season followed after a  comfortable 3-0 victory at home against Portsmouth in the League Cup.

What happened next caused a bit of a shock as they some how managed to beat Manchester City 1-0 away from home, but their celebrations didn’t last long either as they were brought down to earth with a 1-0 defeat at home against newly promoted Leicester City and it will be interesting to see how the players respond in this game as it will certainly be one that will expect to win, despite being away from home.

QPR vs Stoke City Head to Head Statistics

Saturday’s lunch time fixture from Loftus Road Stadium will become the 33rd meeting between the two clubs over the years. Queens Park Rangers have won 16 times, with Stoke City having won 10 times and the remaining 6 matches having finished all square.

From the previous 16 matches played between the two clubs at Loftus Road Stadium, we see that Queens Park Rangers have a commanding advantage having won 9 times, compared to Stoke City have only managed just 3 victories and the remaining 4 matches having ended all square.

As we can see from the head to head statistics table above, which shows the results of the last 5 matches played between the two clubs, we see that Queens Park Rangers have a slight advantage having won 3, with Stoke City having won 2.

QPR Recent Form

24/08/14 BPL Tottenham Hotspur vs QPR 4 : 0
16/08/14 BPL QPR vs Hull City 0 : 1

QPR have had a very rough time of it during their last 5 matches played as they have lost 4 times and only managed to secure just 1 victory and although their only win during this time came at home and they have home advantage in this game, it would take a very brave person to bet on Harry Redknapp’s side to win this match.

Stoke City Recent Form

16/08/14 BPL Stoke City vs Aston Villa 0 : 1

Stoke City have had a mixed bag of results during their last 5 matches played in which they won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 and the whole squad, including their manager will have been very disappointed to see them lose at home against Leicester City having beaten Manchester City away from home just 2 weeks earlier.

QPR Team News:

Manager Harry Redknapp will be without the services of Alejandro Faurlin and Adel Taarabt for this game as both players continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Joey Barton and Jordan Mutch will undergo a late fitness test to see if they can be involved having both missed the 4-0 defeat away against Manchester United last weekend.

Stoke City Team News:

Manager Mark Hughes will be without both Peter Odemwingie and Geoff Cameron for this game as both players continue to receive treatment for respective injury problems. Jonathan Walters is a major doubt having picked up a knock in the 1-0 defeat last weekend against Leicester City and will undergo a late fitness test to see if he can be involved.

Stephen Ireland does look likely to start this game though for the Potters as he has now fully recovered from a recent knock and new signing Oussama Assaidi will also be pushing for a start having completed a full week of training.

QPR vs Stoke City Average Goals Per Game Statistics

76 Goals have been scored in the previous 32 meetings between the two clubs over the years which provides us with an overall average goals per game statistic of 2.37.

42 of those Goals have been scored in the previous 16 meetings between the two clubs that have taken place at Loftus Road Stadium and this generates us an average goals per game statistic of 2.62.

Looking at both average goals per game statistics, it would seem to indicate that this match on saturday afternoon should see between 2 or 3 goals scored come the full time whistle.

QPR vs Stoke City Current Betting Odds Market

QPR are the slight favourites to win this game on saturday afternoon with a current best price available of 7/4 with Betfred – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, but with Harry Redknapp’s side only having won a single game so far this season, it does look a little on the short side for me to be classed as any real value.

The Draw has not happened in any of the previous five meetings between the two clubs over recent years, but with very little between them in the league table, it might be a sensible option to get on the draw here at a current best price of 9/4 with Bet365 – £200 Matched Bonus Bets for New Customers, as your main cover bet.

Stoke City are no strangers at winning games away from home as we all saw a couple of weeks ago when they stunned Manchester City with a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium and at a current best price of 19/10 with BetVictor – £25 Free Bets for New Customers, this does look the value play in my opinion.

QPR vs Stoke City Free Sports Bets, Tips & Predictions

The overall statistics seem to suggest that Queens Park Rangers will win this game on saturday afternoon, but I have been far from impressed with their start to the new season and until they can get Adel Taarabt back playing they will always look a beatable side and with Stoke City having already put the mighty Manchester City to the sword away from, Mark Hughe’s side look decent value to add another 3pts to their tally.

The absence of Jonathan Walters will be a bit of a blow for Stoke City, but his involvement will not be known until saturday morning, so there is still a good chance that the 31 year old striker will play in this game. Stephen Ireland’s return to training is a huge boost and he does look likely to be involved from the start in this game.

The average goals per game statistics are indicating this game to see between 2 or 3 goals, Queens Park Rangers have only managed to score one goal in their two games played at Loftus Road this season, whereas Stoke City have scored in both of their matches away on the road and for this reason, my Banker for this game has to be Stoke City to Win with my Saver being Stoke City to win the race to 2 Goals.
